More tourists than ever are discovering Zagreb, in the heart of Croatia – described as “Europe’s undiscovered capital city”.
Promotional efforts by the Zagreb Tourist Board and a host of festivals and events are encouraging more travellers to enjoy the city’s museums, galleries and vibrant café culture.
In 2015, it was visited by more than a million tourists and has seen strong growth rates this year.
In the first seven months of 2016, Zagreb was visited by almost 573,000 people – up 6% year-on-year – and the city saw a 15% rise in overnight stays.
Most guests during July 2016 came from South Korea, Germany, Spain, the US and the UK.
The Zagreb Tourism Board promotes the city’s attractions and hotels around the world at trade fairs – including World Travel Market London (7-9 November 2016), the leading global event for the travel industry – and via consumer marketing campaigns.
It also has a dedicated webpage detailing Zagreb events – such as concerts, exhibitions, films and street shows – united under the ‘Zagreb Summer Tour 2016’ brand.
