Building an audience for building a castle

Guédelon Castle in France, which featured in a BBC2 television series in 2014, still has a lot to offer  visitors interested in observing the world’s largest archaeological experiment – building a castle from scratch using medieval technology.

Deep in the forests of northern Burgundy and only two hours from Paris, quarrymen, stonemasons, woodcutters, carpenter-joiners, blacksmiths, tile makers, carters, basket makers and rope makers are working together to reveal the secrets of medieval construction technique.

These secrets are willing shared with visitors to the seven-hectare site.

Each episode of the four-part series, “Secrets of the Castle” was watched by a least 1.5 million British viewers.
