Thai triumph

Elephant Hills, Thailand’s first luxury tented jungle camp, will be revealing details of environmental and community work that has recently led to it receiving a coveted award.

The company combines the camp idea of African national parks with the Thai tropical forest environment.

It runs two camps, the Elephant Camp and the floating Rainforest Camp, which are both situated in Khao Sok, part of southern Thailand’s largest stretch of primary rainforest. Despite being tucked away, these camps are easily reachable from popular beach destinations such as Phuket, Khao Lak, Khanom, Krabi and Koh Samui.
Transfers from and to these destinations are included in the package price.

Elephant Hills won a Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Gold Award 2017 in the Environment-Ecotourism Project category.

The award was made for the company’s efforts in conservation and community related projects including elephant conservation, a children’s project and wildlife camera trapping project, all focused in and around Khao Sok National Park.

This year’s awards, held in Macao in September, attracted 220 entries from 77 organisations and individuals worldwide.
