Global travel technology specialist Open Destinations has today announced the addition of new functionality designed to supercharge the speed and efficiency with which its reservation software users build travel itineraries. Drag & Drop, is the first in a series of itinerary build-focussed features planned for release by Open Destinations over the next six months.
Users of Open Destinations’ Travel Studio and Travel Builder reservations platforms can now build custom itineraries by simply clicking and dragging various trip elements into a template. For example, start and end dates either side of flights, transfers, various excursions and accommodation. Users can assign images to each component (e.g. destination), supplier (e.g. Avis) or product type (e.g. 5-door 4×4 vehicle) and use Drag & Drop to position them accordingly. Once a Drag & Drop itinerary has been created, the software’s Document Generator can be used to push it into a number of pre-designed templates which can be saved in various formats (PDF, HTML Word Doc) before being emailed or posted to the end customer.
Enabling users to build itineraries is an essential functionality within any reservations management system. With users used to time-consuming manual searches for each different trip component, Open Destinations’ Drag & Drop itinerary builder will prove a welcome innovation.
“Itinerary generation is one of the most widely used processes used within Travel Studio and Travel Builder so we’re delighted to introduce Drag & Drop to both speed it up and make it easier” comments Open Destinations founder and CEO Kevin O’Sullivan. “Customers will now be able to build their itineraries three to four times faster, which will greatly enhance operational efficiency.”
