Creta Maris Resort is proud to announce the launch of a comprehensive, five-year refurbishment and redevelopment plan, which will see the resort transformed with a new elevated offering and positioning, marking a new era for the hotel as a gold standard for five-star holidays in Crete. The family-owned, five-star all-inclusive resort is located next to the picturesque and lively seaside town of Hersonissos, close to Crete’s capital, Heraklion. Since its opening in 1975, Creta Maris Resort is known for its combination of Cretan tradition and hospitality, friendly and warm service, extensive amenities, and regenerative travel philosophy designed for travelers who value sustainability without compromising high-end luxury.
The five-year plan will elevate Creta Maris’s facilities and offering as a premium, five-star all-inclusive resort for families and couples with an extensive varity of exceptional facilities and a new elevated design aligned with its Cretan hospitality focus. Guest bedrooms, the spa, gym, entertainment offerings, and public areas, as well as additional outdoor amenities and the F&B outlets will be completed over the following five years.
The first phase of the project will kick-off with a full re-branding in early November to launch Creta Maris’s new visual identity and repositioning. In the lead up to the seasonal reopening in April 2023, Creta Maris will complete a full refurbishment of the entrance and reception area to enhance and elevate the space with a new colour palate of pastel shades and warm neutral tones. A new central seating area, guest services area, and VIP lounge will be added to create an inviting and welcoming arrival experience, aligned with the resort’s celebrated friendly and authentic Cretan hospitality.
The two outdoor pools located seaside adjacent to the resort’s award-wining Blue Flag Hersonissos Beach, will be refurbished with new luxury day beds to relax throughout the day. A new pool and grill bar will open near the main pool and will serve cocktails and fresh snacks throughout the day. A new al fresco circular lounge area will also be added to the beachfront promenade, offering uninterrupted views across the pool and the glistening Aegean Sea.
Creta Maris will be extending its strong gastronomic offering with the opening of two new seaside restaurants, a Cretan BBQ restaurant which is an à la carte Cretan interpretation of a classic steakhouse, and a new à la carte adults-only Cretan seafood restaurant. Located in a prime secluded location of the resort, Cretan seafood restaurant will offer unhindered views across the bay and a menu focused on Aegean and Cretan seafood.
Two of the resort’s existing restaurants will undergo extensive refurbishments. The main restaurant will feature open show kitchens, live cooking demonstrations, and an interactive buffet offering insight into Cretan flavours and international favourites in a family-friendly setting. The other restaurant will offer a modern Greek cuisine concept in an open veranda setting with stunning sea views.
A new adults-only Wine Cellar will serve a wide range of local Cretan and Greek wines, as well as recognized European and international labels. A custom-made temperature regulated wine cave will house a curated wine collection and offer a variety of wines by the bottle and the glass to allow guests to learn more about Greek and Cretan vineyards that are known for their rare local varietals and single varietal wines. Wine tutorials will be offered to guests as well as the opportunity to pair wines with a selection of cheese and charcuterie served on local oiled vine boards.
The resort’s Main Bar which has a prime elevated location in the resort’s main building overlooking the main pool and beach will be fully refurbished and a new sea view cocktail bar will be added offering a wide selection of Cretan-Greek mezze dishes. Cocktails will be available every evening from 18:00 for sundowners, cocktails, and shisha.
Three new grab’n’go restaurants will be added, including a gelato station, a juice bar with freshly squeezed juices and smoothies served throughout the day, and a gyros rotisserie for a traditional Greek bite to eat. The new F&B offerings are part of the resort’s re-positioning plan to increase its offering for families as well as for couples with new adults-only restaurants and bars. These new additions will increase the resort’s F&B offering to seven restaurants, ten bars, five snack points and one wine cellar, to ensure that both families and couples alike can experience a comprehensive gastronomic journey.
