NTO Montenegro Report Record Increase in UK Arrivals

Following a record number of tourist arrivals in 2022, the National Tourism Organisation of Montenegro (NTO Montenegro) will once again exhibit at World Travel Market in November. With a delegation of 18 partners across public institutions, local tourism organisations, hotels and hotel groups and DMC-s, representatives from the tourism board are available for trade and media appointments and will unveil a series of grand new openings for 2023.

According to the Statistical Office of Montenegro – MONSTAT, Montenegro welcomed a total of 1.7 million tourist arrivals globally in the first eight months of 2022, a 25% increase year-on-year and 82% from 2019. In collective and individual accommodation, 9.5 million overnights were recorded – an increase of 19% from 2021 and 82% from 2019. From the UK specifically, 2022 saw 52,000 travellers visit Montenegro with 268,000 overnight stays recorded. Year-on-year this was an increase of 374% from January – August this year and 87% from the same recorded period in 2019. The number of overnights sat at 254% in comparison to 2021 and 88% from the first eight months in 2019 and the average length of stay recorded remains at 5 days.

The new year marks an exciting time for the Balkan destination with a choice of stand-out new accommodation options and increased airlift. Combined with four UNESCO sites, five National Parks and 117 beaches in a small and accessible environment, these additions make Montenegro a desirable destination for holiday-makers in 2023.
