City Of São Paulo Offers Free Tours for Visitors

Have you ever considered visiting a new destination and doing so by walking around with a free tour guide? With more than 1,500 km2 in area, the city of São Paulo is one of the largest in the world, with a total of 12 million inhabitants. Walking without knowing where to go can make tourists waste time deciding the best option to optimize their stay.

That’s why the city of São Paulo offers free tours for visitors, with a tour guide. Tourists and citizens can do that in 15 different sites, such as Paulista Avenue, Vila Madalena, Downtown, Liberdade Neighborhood and others.

Promoted by São Paulo City Hall – Tourism Secretariat, the project is called “Vai de Roteiro” and was created in 2022. Ever since, it has already served around 50.000 people in total. The tourists can make free online reservations and present the digital ticket to the tour guide at the meeting point.

The groups are around 20 people and are conducted by one tour guide that is bilingual. In Paulista Avenue, for example, one of the city’s best-known tourist attractions, the visitor can enjoy many cultural institutions such as museums, parks, restaurants, hotels, theaters and rooftops. In the other hand, if you’re looking for a place that gathers food and culture, the right tour is through Vila Madalena.

Ecotourism is also a trend currently, as São Paulo has more than 50% vegetation coverage. In Parelheiros, a distant region still located in the city of São Paulo, a bus with a tour guide on board takes visitors to an immersive experience, with a day long duration, to really feel what’s like being in touch with nature while still in the city. Ibirapuera Park, the most visited in the city, is also a feature, because it’s a place the visitor can combine nature with culture: many museums are in its interior.

Please note that the participant that decides to enter a cultural institution, theaters and other activities that has a fee, the entry is paid by the participant.
