Iceland Travel Launches Brand New Tour in The North of Iceland

Iceland Travel, one of the leading DMCs in Iceland is launching the brand-new tour Iceland Travel’s Arctic Hot Springs & Northern Lights Getaway providing a four- to five-day adventure for travellers looking to explore the northern part of the “land of fire and ice” and uncover a bit more of the fascinating history, local culture and some of Iceland’s best cuisine.

Helgi Eysteinsson, CEO of Iceland Travel, says:

“The opening of the Akureyri tour is a step forward in our deseasonalistation strategy. We hope this new itinerary encourages travellers to visit our beautiful island beyond the popular southwestern area. The North of Iceland has so much to offer – from breathtaking fjords and mystical lava formations to plenty of outdoor activities such as horseback riding, skiing, snowmobiling or whale watching”.

Guests joining the programme this Winter can enjoy the northern hot spring bathing and northern lights hunting, spectacular fjords and a vibrant arts and culture scene in this charming town near the Arctic Circle. Other highlights include relaxing in a geothermal hot spring cradled in a forested fjord and indulging in delicious Icelandic cuisine such as arctic char and Icelandic Skyr Yoghurt.

Akureyri receives fewer visitors than the rest of the island allowing travellers to explore the beauty of the destination more peacefully. The area also has a moderate winter climate for its location (the average high temperature is 0 degrees Celsius) and its far northern location makes it ideal for viewing the northern lights on cold, clear nights.
