Ontario on the up

The central Canadian province of Ontario is promoting new flights, new hotels and new attractions as part of its promotion activity at WTM.

New hotels include: the Drake Motor Inn in Prince Edward County on 31 May 2019 brimming with curious art and photography installations; the brand-new Delta Hotels by Marriott Thunder Bay, Kimpton Saint George and the Le Germain Hotel recently opened its doors in June 2018.

Elsewhere, Hornblower Niagara Cruises have launched two new funicular incline railways, while the Great Lakes Cruise Company has five separate cruise lines operating seven ships, serving Niagara Falls, Toronto and Thunder Bay regions.

In May 2019, Europe’s largest self-drive boating company, Le Boat, expanded along the Rideau Canal with the addition of a new base in Seeley’s Bay. The current fleet totals 20 boats and this is set to steadily increase each year to a full fleet of 32 on the Rideau canal. The largest and most luxurious in the fleet is Horizon 5, which sleeps up to 12 people.

Ontario can be reached from the UK via a daily Dreamliner flight with WestJet. This March Norwegian Air launched a transatlantic flight out of Hamilton in Ontario to Dublin. The new daily service marks the first direct flight between the two cities.
