Orlando blooms

Orlando, the self-styled ‘Theme Park Capital of the World’, is sharing details of new theme park expansions, hotels and unique dining adventures.

Many of the new developments launched to eager thrill fans in summer 2019 – in time for the busy winter 2019 theme park season.

Visit Orlando president CEO George Aguel said: “Orlando is always innovating, with immersive new experiences and unbeatable hospitality that keeps visitors returning year after year.

“It’s this memorable combination that keeps Orlando the most-visited destination in the country, with a record 75 million visitors in 2018.”

Orlando is home to seven of the world’s top theme parks and is the number-one destination for UK visitors to the US.

New immersive adventures include Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure at Universal Orlando Resort; Star Wars: Galaxy Edge and the NBA Experience at Walt Disney World Resort.

Wild Florida has opened a new 75-acre safari park; Aquatica Orlando has a new curve-shaped, two-rider wave slide.

For smaller children, Walt Disney World Resort’s new Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy is a live show now open in Hollywood Studios, featuring beloved characters from the Cars movie series, while LEGOLAND Florida Resort has debuted Lego Movie World, one of the largest additions ever made to the park, with three new attractions based on worlds within the film.

New accommodation includes Universal’s Endless Summer Resort – Surfside Inn and Suites, a new beach-themed value hotel, debuted June 27. Surfside features spacious, two-bedroom suites that sleep six. Its sister property, Dockside Inn and Suites will join the value resort in March 2020.

New dining experiences include Spanish-themed Jaleo at Disney Springs; Bigfire at Universal CityWalk and the TODAY Café at Universal Orlando Resort.
