South Africa’s SMMEs go on a Jurni

Jurni, a new mobile-optimised booking tool for small, medium and micro-enterprises (SMMEs) in South Africa, remains on track to go live by the end of November.

South Africa’s Tourism Minister launched Jurni this May as a public-private initiative, hoping to “transform South Africa’s travel and tourism industry through the development of a centralised data hub, an SMME booking tool and a visitor app and information portal.

Jurni recognised that SMMEs in the South African travel and tourism industry need to access the global market in order to succeed.

This new tool will increase the visibility of South Africa’s hidden tourism attractions and accommodation establishments globally and locally. It will also enable South Africa to offer travellers an easy-to-use booking process via its brand website.

Jurni is currently in the process of developing the qualifying criteria for SMMEs and tour providers as well as formulating the vetting and onboarding processes.
