An iconic red London bus will take centre stage in the UK & Ireland area of WTM London 2019 and buyers looking to include unique tours of the capital in their itineraries are invited to step aboard.
The 1960 Routemaster bus is being brought onto the exhibition floor by new stand-alone exhibitor Afternoon Tea Bus Tour.
The tour company is run by B Bakery, specialist in the quintessentially British afternoon tea tradition with a French twist, which it calls L’Afternoon Tea and which is served at its luxury bakery in Covent Garden.
Five years ago, B Bakery had the idea of combining its Central London fine patisserie with a sightseeing experience by bus.
Managing director Cedric Bloch said he is looking to meet buyers from key markets including China, the US, the Middle East and India who want to include the tours as part of clients’ itineraries.
He said: “We’re inviting people to hop on our Routemaster bus at WTM London to get a flavour of what we do. We are the only company operating a 1960s Routemaster bus and we pride ourselves on our food, so we offer a very special experience.
“Every day we see tourists pass our patisserie who do not have the time to come in as they are on pre-determined itineraries. We’d like to meet these tour companies and get into their itineraries.
“We’re confident that when tour companies see what we have to offer, they will want to put afternoon tea on the bus as part of their own organised tours.
“People come to London and have afternoon tea, as well as do a tour, so why not combine the two? We believe that this is the best way to see the city.”
Although best-known for the afternoon tea tour, the company offers other options, such as a 4th of July theme for US tourists, gin tours and private hires. Indeed, an afternoon tea experience on a boat on the River Thames has recently been added.
Branding advertising opportunities on the iconic Routemasters are also available and an e-commerce site with pre-set prices, including for FIT and group bookings, will be launched soon.
