Spanish online travel agency Logitravel has won a prestigious World Travel Market London 2016 World Travel Leaders Award in recognition of its use of ‘big data’ to develop tailored packages.
The company President Ovidio Andrés collected the coveted award from Hosteltur Director Mauel Molina today (7 November) at the WTM World Travel Leaders Award ceremony.
The Awards give WTM London’s Official Media Partners – which represent key travel industry media around the world – an excellent platform to congratulate and recognise those companies and individuals that have made significant and ground-breaking contributions to travel and tourism in their region or sector.
Three nominations from each of WTM London’s media partners were judged in September by a panel of three, consisting of an independent body, a representative of WTM London and the relevant media partner.
Logitravel has shifted its focus from being purely an OTA. It now works in product creation, developing packages from the information requested online, working with “big data”. It customises the user experience and offers the most appropriate products based on the users’ activity on the website and information about other similar products.
The judges at the WTM World Travel Leaders Award said: “Diversification and an innovative approach has been key to their success.
“A philosophy of ‘it is far better to do a few things very well than drown in a maelstrom of data and process’ is serving them well. It’s not just having the data, it is what you do with it.”
Every year, World Travel Leaders Awards are presented at WTM London. The full list of 2016 winners is:
