Europe’s tallest and fastest rollercoaster will be the main attraction at Ferrari Land, which is gearing up to open at PortAventura World in Spain next year.
The Vertical Accelerator will set a double record for being the highest at 112 metres and fastest, reaching 111 miles per hour in five seconds, so riders experience the same G-force as Formula 1 drivers.
Based on the Italian motoring brand, Ferrari Land will open on April 7, 2017, and means that PortAventura World, near Barcelona, will have more theme parks than any other resort in Europe.
Giovanni Cavalli, General Manager Commercial for PortAventura World, said: “The arrival of Ferrari Land next April will highlight PortAventura World’s position as a worldwide leading holiday destination, offering three theme parks in one resort.”
Representing an investment of €100 million, the new theme park is the largest project in PortAventura’s 21-year history.
The resort expects to attract five million visitors annually when Ferrari Land is fully operational, up from the current four million a year, thanks to the international appeal of the Ferrari brand.
As well as five themed hotels, the resort already has two theme parks: PortAventura Park and Caribe Aquatic Park, as well as a convention centre and a beach club.
Port Aventura World currently welcomes about 300,000 visitors from the UK each year and this is expected to increase with the launch of Ferrari Land.
