Colombia confirms its participation in WTM Latin America 2020

Tourism body increases its participation area at the event and will bring at least 15 exhibitors to the next edition

WTM Latin America’s director Luciane Leite received Procolombia’s Vice-President Gilberto Salcedo, the agency’s director in Brazil Nicolás Casasfranco and its tourism advisor Maria Catalina Galvis, at Reed Exhibitions’ head office so that the entity could sign the contract to take part in the 8th edition of the event, which will be held at the Expo Center Norte Exhibition Centre, in the city of São Paulo, between March 31st and April 2nd, 2020.

With the aim of disclosing the country as a destination over and above the well-known tourist landmarks, such as Cartagena, Bogota and Medellín, Procolombia is investing in a larger stand for the 2020 edition, with an area of 93m² and is expecting to bring as many as 15 businessmen from the tourism segment to the event.

According to Salcedo, Brazil is among the top 5 markets in importance in terms of outbound travellers, and Colombia’s participation in WTM Latin America is very much in line with the country’s promotion strategy. “We have beautiful cities in Colombia as well as tourist attractions along with nature, which as we know is exuberant. We are working with different itineraries, such as agro-tourism, and visits to the coffee zone, as well as working on increasing awareness and perception in relation to the infrastructure that exists in terms of the country’s tourism players”, he stresses.

For the 8th edition, Procolombia is coming with a more robust participation and with a positive outlook with the sharers that it will bring with it. Luciane Leite highlights the privileged location that the entity will occupy at the next edition, in addition to the larger area. “Prolombia’s presence at our event is very significant, since as the country’s tourism body, the organization includes representatives from relevant destinations and businessmen who are highly qualified and prepared for generating high-level business, as well as being an excellent opportunity for networking”, she concludes.

At the meeting, in addition to Procolombia’s plans and its confirmation that it would be taking part in the event, the executives discussed the tourism market, the unique opportunities that WTM Latin America offers to exhibitors and how the behaviour of travellers has changed over time.
