G Adventures wins prestigious WTM World Travel Leaders Award

G Adventures has won a prestigious World Travel Market 2015 World Leaders Award in recognition of its impressive growth and its promotion of responsible tourism.

The company received the coveted award today (Tuesday 3 November) at the WTM World Travel Leaders Award ceremony. The award was presented by TTG Media Managing Director, Daniel Pearce and was collected by G Adventures, UK managing director, Brian Young.

The Awards give WTM London’s Official Media Partners – which represent key travel industry media around the world – an excellent platform to congratulate and recognise those companies and individuals which have made the greatest contributions to travel and tourism in their region or sector.

Three nominations from each of WTM London’s media partners were judged in September by a panel of three, made up of an independent body, a representative of WTM and the relevant media partner.

G Adventures is leading the way in responsible tourism and reducing the negative impact of tourists and, moreover, is doing this as a highly profitable business. G Adventures is celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2015 and boasts a 37% year on year growth – outperforming the UK market trends in traveller sales and profits, as well as leading the way in promoting responsible tourism.

G Adventures works hard to have a positive and responsible impact on the destination it serves. It has its own not-for-profit organisation Planterra, through which it has launched several tourism supply chain projects in the past year including:

– Oodles of Noodles in Hoi An, Vietnam which provides underprivileged youths with vocational training in hospitality so they get work in restaurants and hotels.

Projects likes these are making a genuine difference whilst bringing income into the destinations that it serves. The results in the past year include:

– Tripled visitors and revenues for its Costa Rica Coffee Co-operative Tour, up from 750 to 2,500 visitors

The judges at the WTM World Travel Leaders Award acknowledged that G Adventures had a good balance between building a business and promoting responsible tourism.

The judges said: “A great example of an organisation that has achieved impressive growth and commercial success whilst putting back into the destination.”
