Japan, the Canary Islands and Egypt are among the exhibitors honoured with awards for their stands at World Travel Market London 2015, the leading global event for the travel industry.
The Best Stand Design Awards is judged by an expert panel – Intuitive Design Managing Director Russell Smith; TRIPorganiser.net Founder and MD Beryl Preuschmann and Tours Research and Marketing (TRAM) Partner Bill Richards.
Best Stand – Japan National Tourism Organization (AS370)
The judges unanimously agreed Japan deserved its Best Stand Design status for paying attention to detail and presentation that left the visitor in no doubt they were at the Japan stand, even if they had not seen the signage.
“It incorporated the traditional and the modern perfectly, with small details that helped sum up everything Japan has to offer to tourists. Everything was really well thought through, to blend traditional and contemporary to create a stand that worked on an aesthetic and functional level,” said judge Beryl Preuschmann.
Best Stand for Doing Business – Canary Islands (EU1600/EU1650)
As well as being a great design and structure, the judges felt the stand was a deserved winner because it made the best use of space, with a mix of networking area, bar area and meeting pods. “The pods were outstanding and the stand provided a mixture of different business opportunities, with everything needed to do business are well designed. It never felt crowded, but at the same time felt like a cosy and welcoming place to do business,” said judge Russell Smith.
Best Stand Personnel – Etihad Airways (ME350)
A warm, friendly welcome on arrival at the stand is what swung the decision to award Etihad the accolade of Best Stand for Personnel. “The who team was friendly and welcoming, out-going and approachable as well as being easily identified as Etihad staff. The judges felt it would be a pleasure to do business with this team,” said judge Beryl Preuschmann.
Best Stand Feature – Egyptian Tourist Authority (AF500/AF550)
The panel agreed Egypt’s stand-out feature – a wooden boat with oars – was the Best Stand Feature at WTM 2015. “The boat is the main feature which pays homage to Egypt’s past and at the same time sells the country and is a delight to behold as you walk into the hall,” said judge Bill Richards.
Most Innovative Stand Within the Travel Tech Show @ WTM – eRevMax (TT550)
The judges decided to award the Most Innovative Stand trophy to eRevMax because of its interesting stand design, welcoming and friendly staff. “It’s an interactive space, modern and open-plan, which attracts people to the stand and gets them involved with features such as table football,” said judge Russell Smith.
WTM Head of Sales Deborah Dewe said: “Every year, exhibitors pull out all the stops to ensure their stands achieve maximum exposure. As always the judges had a difficult task choosing between all the exhibitors. This year, feedback shows stand design has moved up a gear with the judges reporting a greater selection of design stands this year than ever before.”
