World Tourism Cities Federation (WTCF) wins prestigious WTM World Travel Leaders Award

World Tourism Cities Federation (WTCF) has won a prestigious World Travel Market 2015 World Travel Leaders Award in recognition of its ability to improve city life around the world.

WTCF received the coveted award today (Tuesday 3 November) at the WTM World Travel Leaders Award ceremony. The award was presented by Kate Macbeth, WTM’s Head of Marketing & Communications, on behalf of Travel Weekly, China and was collected by deputy secretary general of WTCF, Li Baochum.

The Awards give WTM London’s Official Media Partners – which represent key travel industry media around the world – an excellent platform to congratulate and recognise those companies and individuals which have made the greatest contributions to travel and tourism in their region or sector.

Three nominations from each of WTM London’s media partners were judged in September by a panel of three, made up of an independent body, a representative of WTM.

WTCF was only established in 2012 but the non-governmental, non-profit tourism membership organisation has made a big impact to cities around the world. It is committed to promoting exchanges and co-operation among members, strengthening co-operation in the development of the tourism market and sharing tourism development experience.

It focuses on upgrading cities’ attractiveness as international tourism destinations, improving the service quality and efficiency of tourism cities, enhancing brand image of tourism cities and promoting economic and social harmonious development of tourism cities.

Over the three years WTCF, which now has 150 members, has become a cohesive, high-end platform for consensus building, mutual commutation, market-places and tourism resources and products exhibition. It is believed that WTCF achievements will continue to be felt all over the world from all aspects of tourism.

WTCF is based in Beijing and relies on China as one of the world’s largest outbound and inbound tourism populations in the world. It has achieved its success by carrying out research on hot issues and key problems in the tourism industry. Many studies have been conducted to provide better and convenient tourism services, free movement of tourists and the exchanges of cultures.

The judges at the WTM World Travel Leaders Awards acknowledged WTCF’s success since being established just three years ago.

“In a relatively short time WTCF has made quite an impact. A meeting point for mayors of major cities to introduce tourism at ground roots level is a real strength,” the judges said.
