WTM Latin America 2019 confirms Moscow as an exhibitor destination

The Russian capital reveals it’s beauty and gastronomy at the event’s seventh edition, to be held in
São Paulo

WTM Latin America has announced another destination to be exhibiting at its seventh edition, to be held from April 2nd-4th, at the Expo Center Norte, in São Paulo: the exciting Russian capital, Moscow.

After hosting the soccer World Cup in 2018, the capital is now seen in a different light by tourists. Well known for its gelid climate, Russia is now desired more than ever by tourists wanting to at least see the official soccer stadia from up close as well as the colourful onion-domed architecture typical of the region.

One of the main Russian ports-of-entry, Moscow offers everything the traveller in search of opulence and beauty could wish for: historical monuments, beautifully landscaped squares, and of course, lots of culture.

The country is also well-known for a phenomenon known as “White Night”, when the suns sets later, or even, in mid-summer, doesn’t set at all, due to the region being within the Arctic Circle,  which extends around the world from Russia to Alaska, Canada and Greenland.

Just last year, Russia’s tourist visits increased by 10%, mainly from China, Germany and South Korea. Visitors totalled 4.2 million in 2018, according to the country’s federal security bureau (FSB). Authorities expect tourist numbers to increase by 15% in 2019, after Russia hosted the World Cup games.

For Luciane Leite, director of WTM Latin America, the inclusion of Moscow for the first time strengthens the event’s promotion and its importance in obtaining new business in Latin America. “The diversity of countries and regions taking part bolsters the event as a world reference in the sector. Having countries such as Russia participating for the first time, positions us and further reinforces one of our objectives: bringing the world to Latin America and promoting Latin America to the world”, says the director.

Open to: travel and tourism professionals; members of the press (restricted credentials for publishers, journalists, photographers, broadcasters and bloggers/influencers); government authorities and buyers (only those buyers who meet the program’s criteria can receive a WTM Buyers’ Club badge).
