WTM Latin America announces something new for Travel Forward

The space will now have an area for content and for technology exhibitors

In 2019 WTM Latin America, the main tourism event for Latin America’s B2B audience, introduced Travel Forward, a space that was used by speakers to talk about technology. Now in the 2020 edition, in addition to the content that is being curated by Paulo Salvador, Travel Forward will also be a space for technology exhibitors. The event will be held between 31 March and 2 April at Expo Center Norte, in São Paulo.

Travel Forward, which was a success in London, was introduced in 2018 with the purpose of presenting solutions in technology and innovation in an event that takes place at the same time as WTM London. The successful idea was repeated in 2019 and received more than 19,000 travel professionals and around 150 supplier exhibitors. Now it’s the turn of the Latin American edition of the event to receive the full model.

The area dedicated to content, the Travel Forward Theatre, will present a wide repertoire of knowledge that focuses on innovation and technology. It’s to this space that executive, Paulo Salvador, will bring his vast experience of working in the tourism and hospitality industry globally in the areas of innovation, technology and distribution. He points out that “for a long time now the travel world has awakened the interest of business capital to develop technology because of the growth and resilience of this industry worldwide. We can no longer talk about tourism without talking about technology; and it’s precisely for this reason. It’s natural that the biggest event in the industry brings the discussion about technology and innovation into its world.”

The Travel Forward content programme will be structured on three pillars and will connect London, Dubai and Latin America. This will give it a global vision, but one that is adapted to fit the local market. The technical pillar will have specialist guests and deal with matters that are inherent in those who work with technology and travel in the different areas that go to make up the industry. The second pillar will be anticipating trends – how to build tomorrow’s scenario today. The third will be the transformation of people; how to include the public so that it changes and takes advantage of the opportunities that technology offers.

“We know the role that WTM Latin America plays as a generator of content and trends and as a market leader. That’s why – now with Travel Forward – it’s a conscious bet on success and on good results in Latin America”, says Luciane Leite, director of WTM Latin America.

In the space dedicated to the exhibition there will be companies with different profiles and from the different economic segments that are part of the tourism industry. Among those that have already confirmed they will be present are TravelClick, DCS Plus, Sojern, ReviewPro, Juniper and OTA Insight. Richard Gayle, Travel Forward’s Events Manager, explains that Travel Forward will once again inspire the travel and hospitality industry with the next generation of technology. “We’re very pleased with the response we had as we go into the second year of this event. We’re looking forward to receiving exhibitors from the main technology suppliers”, he concludes.
