Under the theme “Explore New Horizons”, the event will be held from April 3rd to April 5th, in the white and green pavilions of the Expo Center Norte Exhibition Centre, in the city of São Paulo
Discover, innovate and learn. It is based on these slogans that WTM Latin America confirms the dates for 2023 and prepares the entire list of topics for the event. Under the theme “Explore New Horizons”, great leaders and tourism professionals who are interested in doing business with the Latin American trade will meet up at the Expo Center Norte Exhibition Centre, between April 3rd and April 5th of next year, in the white and green pavilions, to make new contacts, meet partners again and stay up to date with the latest developments and trends in the sector.
“This year’s event was a great success because it gave business a boost at an important moment, which consolidated it as the face-to-face milestone of the upturn in the Latin American tourism sector. Now, we are looking to the future rather than backwards, which translates into the 2023 edition’s motto. We want to support the sector in building a new time and heading towards new horizons, based on discoveries, innovation and learning”, summarizes Simon Mayle, WTM Latin America’s director.
The focus on business remains the predominant factor that guides the exhibition area, the conference schedule and the guest buyer programmes. “We bring a qualified audience to meet the most relevant people through the Hosted Buyers and WTM Buyers’ Club programmes, aimed at national and international buyers, and the Agent on the Road Programme, which makes it easier for travel agents from all over Brazil to take part, along with other tourism professionals. Everyone can organize their journey using the meeting scheduling platform that allows them to find new contacts and give their business a boost”, stresses Mayle.
Another milestone of WTM Latin America is the content presented in the theatres that develop the event’s main themes. “What we saw this year were crowded audiences and it will be no different in 2023, given that we will continue to present the main trends and cases that help boost business and support each individual in their professional improvement, in addition to provoking people in a positive way, for the purpose of promoting change”, promises the director.
This call for a better world becomes even clearer with the Responsible Tourism Award, a seal that highlights and celebrates the small initiatives of the tourism chain that have the potential to make a major difference to the planet. Part of the Global Responsible Tourism Awards family, the third edition will be delivered during WTM Latin America to Latin American companies that stand out in the field of sustainable development, validating good practices and providing replicable models that range from child protection and benefits for the community to reductions in greenhouse gas emissions and of single-use plastics.
Mayle adds that the themes chosen to be developed in relation to the topic of diversity and inclusion will continue with the dual role of highlighting successful initiatives and encouraging change by means of analysis on issues such as women’s participation in tourism, the development of itineraries in Afrotourism and for the LGBTQIA+ population, initiatives aimed at travel for the disabled and other topics that pervade the universe of diversity. The director confirms that the Letter of Commitment for Diversity and Inclusion, which was launched this year to guide companies in relation to the adoption of inclusive practices, will carry on next year.
In addition to the wealth of content and reflection offered, WTM Latin America continues to be one of the main stages for exhibiting hundreds of domestic and international brands that want to strategically interact in the B2B universe. Exhibitors from all over the world take part in the event with the aim of connecting Latin America to the world and the world to Latin America.
Among others and at both the domestic and the international level, the exhibitors represent destinations, hotels and resorts, airlines, DMCs, technology companies, car rental companies, as well as tour operators – in this sense, the Tour Operators Area has been growing over the course of the editions and becoming a great reference in WTM Latin America.
The 2023 edition will also be the stage for the celebration of 10 years of WTM Latin America and, for Mayle, the event’s greatest legacy lies in the combination of offering knowledge and financial returns – both in terms of closing deals as well as for the economy of the capital city of the State of São Paulo.
The full opening up of Latin America to travel will further enrich the schedule in 2023, in addition to expanding the region’s number of exhibitors and visitors, generating more options for closing deals. “All countries have relaxed their requirements and people have started traveling again, which guarantees a greater participation of exhibitors and visitors from other countries in the region to next year’s event and increases the possibilities in this exploration of new horizons, always bearing in mind the ability to learn and develop to move forwards in this new stage of tourism”, highlights Mayle.
