Whether you are a business or destination, there is still time to submit for an award this year
Submissions for the 2021 Global Responsible Tourism Awards close on 31st August at midnight, in whichever time zone entrants submit from. These are genuinely international awards with submissions from four continents.
It takes time to make an application, but as previous winners Glynn O’Leary and Iain Harris explain, applying is a business decision.
It makes business sense to review practices and ensure that they remain at the cutting edge and to use the text developed for the application on your website and in marketing material to communicate your principles and practices to clients and business partners.
There is a strong business case for Responsible Tourism – ensure that you benefit from it as others do.
Destinations and businesses can enter from anywhere in the world and they will be judged by an international team of judges drawn from across the industry. We select a range of judges, some long associated with the Responsible Tourism Awards, others new to the programme. We seek to ensure a degree of continuity to ensure a degree of consistency across the years.
Our Chair of Judges Professor Emeritus Harold Goodwin has chaired all the international and regional awards since 2004 when the Responsible Tourism Awards were launched. Justin Francis initiated the awards and he is again amongst the judges this year.
Martin Brackenbury, Caroline Warburton from Visit Scotland and Andrea Nicholaides from Green Tourism are all judges again this year. Becca Sampson from Booking.com, Caroline Bremner from Euromonitor, Rupesh Kumar for the Responsible Tourism Mission in Kerala, Uwerrn Jong from Out There Magazine, Joanne Hendrickx and Rachel McCaffery from Travel Without Plastic, Shannon Guihan from Treadright, and Antonio Buscardini from Travel Tomorrow are amongst the new judges this year.
There is still time to enter the Global Responsible Tourism Awards and be noticed. The process of entering will enable you to benchmark your achievements and to communicate what you are doing to use tourism to make a better world.
