Destinations and private companies confirm presence as exhibitors at the 2021 edition
São Paulo, August 2021 – Latin America will showcase its presence at the 2021 WTM Latin America Virtual. Destinations, such as Guatemala, Chile, Uruguay, Argentina, Colombia, Barbados, Paraguay, the Dominican Republic, Panama, and Bolivia are in the event’s confirmed list.
To Corey Garrett, director for the Caribbean & Latin America at Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI), the participation of the destination, boasting low risk for Covid-19 (with very few cases), in the event, shall be one of learning and exchange.
“Our mains target at WTM Latin America is to inspire. We wish to continue working with supplier of the sector to assess the feeling and the behavior of travelers so as to better adapt and understand the post-pandemic shifts. We also want to make sure of our listing to travel agents and sector leaders to stay at the forefront of the new travel trends and gather alluring travel offers”, Garry indicates.
Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay will moreover provide Brazilian travel agents with training, so as make them abreast of the novelties at the destinations. Chile will count on 45 co-exhibitors and two regions with proprietary booths, such as O’Higgins and La Región de Los Lagos.
Colombia is to make a pre-recorded training available, which will be included in the schedule and offered to the entire audience. Guatemala, in turn, is intent on promoting responsible tourism, on trading, and on consolidating the country throughout the press, the buyers, and the tourist trade, who seek to live a unique experience.
the Tourism Council of Guatemala (INGUAT) has been working on the Touristic Bio-safety Seal, which consists of a certification granted to several tour companies, such as: hotels, tourism operators, transports, tour guides, travel agencies, Spanish language schools, and touristic marinas, among others, who have applied the Good Practice Guidelines for the prevention of COVID-19 and other infections.
To Simon Mayle, director at WTM Latin America, having that massive representativity of Latin America is essential. “The participation of all these Latin-American countries results in diversity in our event and allows the three days of WTM Latin America to teem with exchanges, learning, and business”, he comments.
Many Latin American countries still remain closed to tourists. However, with the vaccination strides all over the world, some are already preparing to reopen their borders – and the participation at WTM Latin America Virtual is part of the actions to reposition in the market.
“We want to be part of the fast and safe recovery of the tourism industry. All of the sectors of tourism are intimately connected and working together and, by promoting and sharing the same goals, we shall be able to recover more swiftly”, Garrett adds.
Besides the destinations, touristic services, such as Transturin, Geo Reisen, Hotéis Decameron, Hylink, and Juniper also take part in the fair, showcasing their products to agents, operators, and visitors.
