The leading global event for the Latin American travel industry will be a virtual-only event this year, postponing the face-to-face event until 2022 and taking place online from 10 – 12 August 2021
WTM Latin America has made the decision to postpone the face-to-face gathering until 2022, and instead hold this year’s event as a virtual edition 10, 11 and 12 August 2021.
This change has been motivated by the pandemic situation in Brazil and worldwide and has the aim to promote qualified delivery in the connections made. This delivery will be in line with the expectations and needs of exhibitors and visitors.
Using all the expertise of other virtual events held in the last year by Reed Exhibitions, WTM Latin America Virtual brings functionality and tools to this edition that will focus on generating business and sharing between exhibitors, travel agents, buyers and visitors.
WTM Latin America’s Marketing Manager, Thais Del Ben, says:
“As a company with a global reach, Reed Exhibitions has enabled us to build solutions and results that delivers relationships and generates contacts.”
The platform will allow virtual meetings to be scheduled, based on the interest profiles that each participant will complete when registering. Each meeting will last 30 minutes and will accommodate up to six participants per room.
To support those interested in a successful participation, over the coming months WTM Latin America Virtual will launch an educational series with step-by-step advice on how to become accredited to participate in the virtual event, and how to get the best out of the platform. The content will be available in three languages; English, Portuguese and Spanish.
The virtual show will also feature qualified conferences, which encourage discussion and the development of the travel and tourism industry. Considering the challenges of this new scenario, the talks will focus on topics of major relevance to tourism, such as: Post-COVID Trends, Women in Tourism, Responsible Tourism, and Technology. Access to the content will be free.
“We’re preparing an event that has the necessary tools for doing business, reconnecting and for networking. Our focus is on promoting meetings, optimising opportunities and consolidating negotiations. We learned a lot from the WTM portfolio, and we’ve taken into consideration the opinions of visitors and exhibitors at other events to make the Latin America edition the best possible. Our expectation is for our audiences to have both a good experience and a good return to the business world”, says Simon Mayle, Director of WTM Latin America.
Good examples and prospects
In 2020, the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) and WTM London, which are part of the WTM portfolio, were entirely virtual events.
ATM attracted almost 12,000 tourism professionals and 140 countries to its platform. The event facilitated 11,301 scheduled meetings, which were given 4 or 5-star ratings by 92% of the participants. The webinars were viewed more than 24,000 times over the three days of the event.
WTM Virtual, the name given to WTM London’s virtual event, resulted in almost 20,000 meetings and received a 4.5 star rating.
There were more than 26,000 viewings of the 60 virtual conferences, and nearly 800 meetings took place during the six Buyers Speed Networking sessions.
