Curated by Gustavo Pinto, the thematic theater has programing dedicated to promote reflections and highlighting responsible tourism initiatives developed by the entire region
What are the most relevant subjects to the sustainable development of the tourism industry? How can companies and entrepreneurs operate more responsibly? Where to look for inspiration to start this journey?
To put the programming of this edition together, Gustavo Pinto, curator of the Transformation Theatre, counted on the support of six organizations recognized in their respective fields of operation and who advocate for responsible tourism all across Latin America. “We highlighted the most pertinent theme for our partner organizations, considering the field of expertise of each of them, and selected other matters that require urgent attention from the industry”, explains the curator of the space and one of the main experts in responsible tourism in Brazil.
The participation of partner entities – alphabetically, Adventure Travel Trade; Asociación Colombiana de Turismo Responsable (Colombia); Fundação Panameña Turismo Sostenible (Panama); Instituto Vivejar (Brazil); La Mano del Mono (Mexico) e World Indigenous Tourism Alliance (based in Chile) – guarantees a look focused on genuinely Latin-American problems and solutions and sets an example on the matter of inclusion. “Moreover, we will have speakers from Brazil, Argentina, Panama, Chile, Guatemala, Colombia, Costa Rica and Mexico, which makes this year’s program both the most regional and the most diverse so far”, celebrates Gustavo.
Among others, the themes approached on this theatre’s stage establish a dialog on the importance of customization, automation and sustainability in the tourism industry, which will be addressed by Raquel Pazos, CEO of Ibiti Project, and Carlos Humberto, CEO and founder of Diáspora Black.
Another highlight is the participation of the finalists of the Responsible Tourism Award in panels and debates. “It is a great opportunity for the public to dive deeper into their history, learn from them and connect with those who are making a difference in the industry”, stresses Bianca Pizzolito, head of WTM Latin America. Partner associations also participate in the process of selection, judging and awarding of the Responsible Tourism Award held in the Explore Transformation Theatre starting 6 pm of April 16, 2024.
The full program of talks, panels and debates will soon be available on WTM Latin America’s website. The themes will also be available on Connect Me, the meeting-scheduling platform, which allows planning the visit schedule during the three days of the event. WTM Latin America is held between April 15 and 17, at Expo Center Norte, in São Paulo. Issued free-of-charge and required fr visitation, irrespective of visitor category – trade, press, authorities and students, registration is already available on the website, in pages in Portuguese, English or Spanish.
