The WTM London Americas Region experiences almost 105,000 on-stand meetings from more than 9,000 industry professionals interested in the region.
The Americas region at WTM London saw a total of 104,026 on-stand meetings take place, meaning each of the 836 exhibitors had an average of 124 on-stand meetings.
Of the 10,500 buyers that came to WTM London 2017, 3,584 are interested in purchasing Americas product; including more than 2,500 (2,547) interested in US product, 1,256 interested in Brazil, 1,191 looking to purchase Argentinian product, more than 1,000 (1,007) interested in Mexico (1,080) and Chile (1,007) respectively. For the Caribbean islands more than 700 buyers were interested in purchasing product for Barbados (724) and Bahamas (705), with 571 interested in Antigua & Barbuda.
The Americas welcomed 207 million international arrivals in 2017, a 35% increase on the previous 12 months, according to UNWTO figures.
WTM London 2018 will see the introduction of Regional Inspiration Zones. These Inspiration Zones will be the centre point of the regions and will act as an ideas hotbed for debate, research and analysis of the regions tourism industry. The Inspiration Zones will host content sessions, networking events, festivals.
Some of the confirmed sessions on the American Inspiration Zones include a dedicated Indigenous tourism panel, and a session on employment and decent work on the Americas market.
In total, WTM London 2017 experienced 935,129 on-stand meetings helping the event generate more than £3.1 billion in industry deals.
