Learning to live with the threat of COVID-19 will take time. As this month’s Responsible Tourism News goes to press some states in the USA are halting re-openings. The WHO is reporting that the number of new cases is rising in Europe, driven by 11 countries that have had a ‘very significant resurgence’. This is according to Hans Kluge, head of the WHO Regional Office for Europe. If left unchecked, such outbreaks will ‘push health systems to the brink once again’. COVID-19 is still a problem in many source markets and a growing problem in the developing world.

The Responsible Tourism agenda is broadening, and this month we cover racism in tourism and decarbonising aviation. For too long aviation has claimed that there is no alternative to fossil fuel kerosene. There is an alternative and governments are beginning to support alternatives.
