The event takes place in April, in São Paulo, and brings exhibitors from all over the world
WTM Latin America 2018 – the world’s leading event for the Latin American travel industry – has already got some of the leading names in the hotel industry among its exhibitors for the event that will take place between April 3rd and April 5th, 2018.
Among those that have confirmed, returning to the event is the American hotel group Best Western Hotels & Resorts, with more than 4 thousand hotels around the world; in addition to the Hilton Worldwide, a group that is present in 103 countries, with more than 5 thousand properties and that has more than 10 brands in its portfolio; and AMResorts, which has its head office in the city of Philadelphia, and luxury resorts scattered throughout Mexico, the Caribbean and Latin America.
For Ney Neves, AMResorts’ manager in Brazil, WTM Latin America has become the reference tourism event in Brazil and Latin America, “which is the reason why AMResorts, by means of its six brands: Zoëtry, Secrets, Breathless, Dreams , Now and Sunscape, has been actively investing and participating in it since 2014”. Nowadays, the group has almost 60 properties, after having been in existence for 16 years.
Another presence that will mark this 6th edition of the event is the IBEROSTAR Hotel & Resorts, a hotel chain that was founded in Palma de Mallorca (in the Balearic Islands in Spain) by the Fluxá family in 1986. The chain has over 100 four- and five-star hotels, in 17 countries around the world. At the present time, there are three major developments in Brazil, all working under the ‘all inclusive’ system.
“WTM is the largest tourism business event in Latin America and we here at IBEROSTAR consider that it is crucial for us to be present. In 2018, we hope to strengthen our good relationship with the tourism market by presenting new developments, as we are attempting to make improvements on a daily basis in order to ensure that our guests visit us frequently and to gain more travellers every day”, says Orlando Giglio, IBEROSTAR’s director in Brazil.
To complement this heavyweight group that will be at WTM Latin America 2018, there will also be the Brazilian hotel group Windsor Hotéis, which has 14 units in Rio de Janeiro and two more in Brasilia. For Ivan Bonfim, the Windsor Hotéis chain’s General Corporate Sales Manager, taking part in the WTM Latin America 2018 event is vitally important in order to achieve the chain’s objectives and strategies in 2018. “This encounter produces quick commercial responses and presents us with the market’s needs, in addition to being a great opportunity for promoting our new 4-star hotel in Copacabana, the Windsor California”.
Oasis Hotels & Resorts will also have a stand at the event. The chain has been in the hotel market for more than 20 years, operating in Mexico’s Cancun and Riviera Maya region, with 12 all-inclusive hotels. “The Oasis Hotels & Resorts are of the opinion that WTM Latin America is one of the best tourist events in the region. This is a great opportunity for getting close to our customers and to show the chain’s new developments, which are renewed every year”, stresses Mari Magalhães, Oasis Hotels & Resorts’ representative for the Brazilian market.
Two others that have confirmed their presence are the Hotéis Othon chain and the Royal Palm Plaza.
According to Luciane Leite, WTM Latin America’s director, “the hotel segment is one of the pillars of the tourism sector, and in Brazil alone it employs over 350 thousand people. Having all these domestic and international chains at the event, is important for generating business and for consolidating partnerships in the sector”.
Luciane Leite is also celebrating the arrival of the Royal Palm Plaza, “in addition to our those partners who are already known, the domestic chain the Royal Palm Plaza, which is the controller of five brands in the metropolitan region of Campinas, has decided to make its debut at WTM Latin America. We are pleased to welcome the chain that was FIFA’s official hotel in 2014 for the Portuguese delegation”.
Increased Space
This edition will also feature a hospitality lounge, created especially for promoting independent ventures such as hotels, inns, resorts and hostels that operate individually on the domestic and international markets. With the capacity to receive up to eight independent ventures, the lounge was created in order to boost the global hotel sector that is looking for the chance to get closer to Latin American buyers, with the aim of generating new business with small and medium players in the segment and is backed by the Brazilian Hotel Industry Association – ABIH Nacional, which is an entity that has more than 3,200 associates throughout the country.
In 2017 roughly 8 thousand visitors were present at the event, which represented an 18% increase vis-à-vis the previous year. With approximately 50 countries and 600 exhibitors present, WTM Latin America offered the opportunity to leverage the travel sector by boosting the spread of independent groups, chains and hotels in a dynamic custom built space to attract strategic partners related to sector.
