- Cape Town International Airport has repeatedly been awarded Skytrax rankings and is served by more than 50 international airlines, as well as national carriers, so getting to Cape Town is easy.
- In-destination, there’s a wide range of budget options, to help you manage your Rands (ZAR – the local currency). Foreign exchange facilities are widely available, as are ATM’s and all credit cards are generally accepted. Beyond the current favourable exchange rate, foreign visitors can reclaim Value Added Tax on collective purchases of more than R250.
- Getting around is easy. Rent a car (you’ll need a valid driver’s licence) or use metered taxi services, catch the convenient My CiTi Bus Service or get on a Metrorail train. - English is widely spoken in Cape Town but as English is only one of South Africa’s eleven official languages, an interesting vernacular has developed. If you’re totally confused, just ask and we’ll have you speaking the lingo in no time!
- Whilst in Cape Town, you will never be out of touch with the people you love back at home. South Africa has an excellent telecommunications network. Hire a cell phone at the airport or buy yourself a South African sim card. Public telephones operate on coins or Telkom phone cards, which you can buy at shops and post offices. Internet café charges are reasonable with many hotels, coffee shops and public spaces offering free wireless.
