As the African tourism industry continues to grow, the African Travel & Tourism Association (ATTA®) reaches the significant milestone of welcoming 100 new members in less than a year – a record for the association, which celebrated its 30th anniversary in October.
Now at 676 members, ATTA® delivers an unrivalled combination of digital market access and events worldwide, connecting tourism into Africa. ATTA® is committed to growing its global events in 2024, allowing its members to decide which worldwide markets they wish to drive commercial growth. This year ATTA® will be at stand S8-224 and is proud to work with the following members at WTM:

Digitally, ATTA® already delivers up-to-the-minute, relevant tourism news and content, that is distributed around the world. The association will commit to further strategic investment in 2024. ATTA®’s member-driven digital strategy showcases members’ brands and, as part of the digital relaunch, ATTA® has streamlined membership into five categories. From October 2023 they include: tour operator buyers & travel industry; product suppliers & representation; media & Influencers; charities & community projects; tourism boards & professional partners. This realignment will ensure that ATTA® members benefit from web responsive design in the future, presenting different content to different sectors of membership.
Digital events also helped boost growth in membership as ATTA®’s webinars grew momentum and engaged new audiences. New event and digital training platforms will launch in 2024 and will also be free for agents to register and access.
Sustainable tourism growth is a primary objective for ATTA®: “It’s clear that it is time to accelerate the pathway with immediate action to support sustainable tourism,” commented CEO Jon Danks. “ATTA® has a rich history in this space, with a charter supported by numerous brands across the continent. We will continue as the voice of members, showcasing the best in sustainable, responsible tourism. We believe in shaping the expectations of travellers to the continent, developing the right platforms, always representing our members voice on the evolution of tourism to the continent.” At COTTM in Beijing this November, ATTA® will place a spotlight on member’s sustainability initiatives at the largest travel industry audience event in China.
Commenting on the record-breaking growth in membership ATTA® Chairman Nick Aslin said: “This milestone shows the increasing value that trade associations like ATTA® can bring to their members in the tourism industry of today”.
