New infrastructure and flight routes have made Israel more accessible than ever – for everyone – the Israel Government Tourist Office says.

With Virgin Atlantic’s new flight route from London Heathrow to Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion Airport, launching October 25 2019, visitors can fly into the ‘city that never sleeps’ in five hours. They can explore a cosmopolitan, forward-thinking capital that claims to be ‘the vegan capital of the world’, with over 400 vegan and vegetarian eateries throughout the city.

Tel Aviv has also become a popular holiday destination for LGBTQ travellers, with an abundance of LGBTQ bars, hotels and beaches.

New places to stay include The Levee in Tel Aviv, which is a beautiful, newly-opened apartment hotel for 2019, or the city’s first ‘pod hotel’ – WOW Allenby – with 40 rooms from £35 per night.

We hope to see a continued growth in incoming tourism thanks to this new route.”

In IGTO’s latest campaign, Two Cities, One Break, travellers are encouraged to visit Jerusalem as well as Tel Aviv. The two cities are an hour away, with the Holy City boasting countless ancient and UNESCO World Heritage sites.

For the first time in history, Jerusalem is now accessible to those with disabilities. The Old City is the most-visited place in Israel, culminating in 10 million visitors each year, and has undergone a ground-breaking project that allows the less-abled to experience the historical sites of the city. Four kilometres of streets in the Muslim, Armenian and Christian quarters were made accessible, and two kilometres of handrails were installed along staircases.

The recently-opened Ramon International Airport in the Negev Desert of Israel has opened up the Red Sea resort city of Eilant and the surrounding desert area to international and local tourists. The southern gateway to Israel has flights from Tel Aviv and Haifa, as well as other European airports.

Tourist arrivals to the country have increased 10% in July 2019, compared to July 2018.
