Professionals will be able to get to know some of the sector’s trends, get up to date with the latest initiatives, and above all, do some good business
The 5th edition of WTM Latin America, which will be held from 4 – 6 April at Expo Center Norte in São Paulo as in previous years, is paying special attention to travel agents, who will be able to mingle and talk to players from all segments in the travel and tourism industry under the same roof. They will also be able to attend various free seminars, which will be given by important specialists, who will be debating the trends, potential and the challenges of the market, during which the agents will have the opportunity to improve and update themselves.
“WTM Latin America offers a complete programme for travel agents, in which professionals have access to the latest Brazilian, Latin American and global tourism products and services. A varied conference schedule, plus efficient business and networking programmes create an environment in which knowledge is acquired and relationships built in just three days that would take a year to do if it were not for the event” says Lawrence Reinisch, director of WTM Latin America.
The WTO (World Tourism Organization), Phocuswright, Google, Facebook and Euromonitor are all giving conferences this year. The talks will cover such aspects as Responsible Tourism, the influence of mobile devices in the purchase of trips, the behaviour of tourists, and the evolution of platforms and the digital ecosystem.
Travel agents will also be able to network with other industry professionals and do business with a huge number of exhibiting companies from around the world, including Brazilian tourism organizations, airlines, hotel chains, tour operators and travel technology companies. In the 2016 edition alone, more than 3,500 pre-arranged meetings were held during the event.
Visitors will also be able to see the very latest technology for the travel and tourism industry in The Travel Tech Show area. This is an event within WTM Latin America where exhibitors focus on technology products and services. There will also be an auditorium that will feature presentations on the use of technology for making tariff strategies, tourism and online booking more dynamic and how Big Data and directed advertising can help with a company’s marketing. In addition to successful cases of tourism blogs, with an approach that will include setting up a company, work routine, forms of monetization, profitability and expenses.
Hundreds of Brazilian travel agents have already confirmed their presence at the event. They will be taking advantage of the Braztoa Road Caravans, which have eight routes that take in 28 cities in the State of São Paulo: Americana, Araçatuba, Araraquara, Bauru, Botucatu, Caçapava, Campinas, Catanduva, Franca, Indaiatuba, Itu, Jacareí, Jundiaí, Limeira, Lins, Marilia, Piracicaba, Pirassununga, Ribeirão Preto, Rio Claro, Santo André, Santo Bernardo, Santos, São Carlos, São José do Rio Preto, São José dos Campos, Sorocaba and Taubaté.
“We’re sure that the agents who will be present will have a complete event, which brings together in one place all the tools they need to leverage their business. We’ve prepared everything so they’re ready for what is going to be a year for starting again, and for planning the business and the strategies needed for the development and success of the industry,” stresses Magda Nassar, the President of Braztoa.
During the event accredited agents will be able to compete for a trip for two people to Orlando in the United States, with accommodation and tickets to the amusement parks. This is an offer from exhibitor, Visit Orlando, which will make the draw on April 5 at 19:00.
Several exhibitors will be featuring promotions on their stands, just as Visit Orlando is doing. To participate in this promotion, all the agent has to do is to visit the stands of partner members of Visit Orlando to receive the promotional stamps and complete the registration form. The participating exhibitors are Visit Orlando, Universal Orlando Resort, SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment, Planet Hollywood Observatory, Pegasus Transportation, Personal RGE, StaySky Resorts, The Grove Resort & Spa and North America Destinations.
“2017 will be the third time I’ve taken part in WTM Latin America and all the editions have been very important for my professional training, networking and for expanding the range of relationships I have, especially with foreign companies, which is one of the main aspects that I value in the event. Visitors have the opportunity to meet several companies from the same destination on the same stand. As far as I’m concerned, participating in the event is a fundamental aspect of the formation of a travel agent,” says Marcos Teixeira, operational director at Martur.
