WTM Latin America will adopt a hybrid model for its event in 2021

The event will last five days, three of which will be physical and two digital

WTM Latin America has announced its first news of 2021. The model of the event this year will be a hybrid one, with five days in total of networking, content and good business to be done. The physical event will take place on 3 – 5 August 2021 in the Green Pavilion of Expo Center Norte, in São Paulo; this has already been revealed by the management of the event. The virtual event will take in the following week on 10 – 11 August between 8:00 and 15:00.

According to Simon Mayle, the director of WTM Latin America, depending on the evolution of the global vaccination plan professionals from around the world are expected at this meeting. ‘The whole sector is eagerly waiting for WTM Latin America to take place. We’ve seen progress being made all over the world with the vaccination plans and this is giving us a more positive outlook with regard to borders reopening and travel resuming We believe there will be more Brazilian and Latin American professionals in the edition this year, and we have an even greater commitment than before to the quality of these professionals and to generating business during the event,’ he points out.

Visitors to the physical event will have access to the already well-known structure and benchmark quality of the event, such as being able to pre-schedule meetings. The main players in tourism will also be taking part and exhibiting at the event, and the level of the visiting professionals and the networking opportunities will, as usual, be high. During the physical experience, Reed Exhibitions will follow all the global security protocols in accordance with the COVID Safe Events guidelines that have been used at all of the organization’s events worldwide.

Mayle stresses Reed’s expertise in promoting events in physical environments and now also in virtual ones. ‘We’ve had excellent experience in other shows that have already taken place within the WTM and ILTM portfolio, as is the case with WTM VIRTUAL and ILTM WORLD. Our focus is on allowing visitors to feel free to conduct quality business in a safe manner and enabling them to choose the best option for them, whether the physical or the virtual environment,’ he emphasizes.

The digital event offers tourism professionals, exhibitors and visitors from around the world who are unable to attend the physical event the opportunity to connect and do business. We will provide a dedicated platform on which all participants can schedule meetings and conduct business via videoconferences. The online environment will also be reproducing a complete conference programme for participants.

The event director observes that extending WTM Latin America beyond physical meetings is of benefit to international networking and favours the generation of good business. ‘The virtual event complements the physical event, expands networking opportunities and the participation of exhibitors and visitors, and enables relationships to be formed and business to be done in a more globalised way. We’re on a path from which there’s no going back and one that has a lot to contribute over the coming years,’ he concludes.
