WTM London Aims to Educate and Inspire with Fascinating Press Conference Programme

An array of diverse press conferences will be taking place at WTM London 2019 – the event where ideas arrive – that will illustrate tourism trends, new developments at famous destinations and technological advancements for brands.

Press Conferences will be taking place in the dedicated Press Conference Theatre, located in the International Media Centre, ME170, providing the perfect setting to hold these important media events.

WTM London’s premier partner this year is Sri Lanka Tourism and they will he hosting a press conference titled Resilient and Strong Sri Lanka on Monday 4 November from 12.00-13.00. In this session, the Minister of Tourism Development, Wildlife & Christian Religious Affairs, John Amaratunga, will discuss how the country responded to the horrific terror attacks of April this year and came back stronger.

He will highlight the ways in which Sri Lanka Tourism has restored faith in the country as a premier destination in the Indian Ocean. The press conference will also include an exciting Holiday prize draw for the media as well as a Ceylon tea set give away.

Later on that day, at 14.00, the Press Conference Theatre will welcome the sponsors of the International Media Centre, Greece. Tourism Minister Harry Theoharis will highlight the successes that Greece have had as a destination in 2019 and how the country plans to market itself into the 2020 season.

Furthermore, after the press conference has finished, some tasty Greek delicacies will be provided for attendees to sample outside the theatre. Mr Theoharis will also be joined by a surprise celebrity guest during his press conference – this is certainly a press conference that you do not want to miss out on.

Tuesday 5 November promises to be another day filled with fascinating press conferences for visitors to attend. Indeed, throughout the day there will be sessions on a range of topics such as tourism trends, advancements in women’s only travel and the key role that peace plays in successful sustainable tourism.

Malaysian Tourism and their Tourism Minister, Tuan Mohamaddin bin Ketapi, will be providing updates on the much-anticipated Visit Malaysia 2020 campaign at 14.30 on Tuesday too. Mr bin Ketapi will be joined on stage by guest speaker Sophie Radcliffe who will share her own personal story of travelling across Malaysia where she took part in her first jungle challenge and summited the great Mount Kinabalu.

The final day of WTM London 2019 will provide visitors a chance to attend An Audience with the Caribbean Tourism Organisation (CTO). CTO Chairman, Dominic Fedee, will update visitors on the Caribbean’s performance in the global travel market as well as explain his own vision for the region heading into the future.

Joining him on stage will be Joy Jibrilu, from the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism and Emilio Ines, from Forward Keys, who will both be able to give their own expert insights into the challenges faced by the region and the opportunities that can be developed for the future.

Lastly, The China National Tourist Office (CNTO), London, will be taking to the Press Conference Theatre stage to officially announce their new social media platforms. With Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube sites, the CNTO will share news, updates and promotions that will inform and inspire people to travel around the beautiful nation that is China with their new handle @cntolondon.

China travel specialists, Has to be China, will share the stage to announce the launch of a brand-new hub for content creators and digital producers too.

WTM London Senior Exhibition Director Simon Press said: “The significance of events like these, really illustrates just how important WTM London is to the global travel and tourism industry.
