Leading international chef inducted into prestigious culinary association

A head chef at the Maritim Resort & Spa Mauritius has joined Raymond Blanc, Brian Turner, and Gary Rhodes as a member of prestigious French culinary association ‘Les Disciples d’Escoffier’. Rakesh Munoruth, Chef at Château Mon Désir, was awarded the famous red ribbon as a symbol of his entry into this renowned gastronomic society, in recognition for his innovation and respect for French culinary traditions.

With over twenty years of Maritim Resort & Spa Mauritius culinary experience, Rakesh joins the largest worldwide organisation of chefs, which boasts more than 25,000 participants and spans numerous regions and cultures. Luminaries include TV chefs Gary Rhodes, Raymond Blanc, Brian Turner, and Anton Mosimann. Throughout the year, the Mauritian native has collaborated with Michelin starred Chefs to further establish Château Mon Désir as the premier restaurant on the island, receiving the ‘Best Fine Dining Cuisine of Mauritius’ award. The restaurant has also been awarded the coveted ‘World Luxury Restaurant Awards’ and is also regularly awarded the ‘Certificate of Excellence’ from TripAdvisor.
