Eilat’s new airport only months from opening

Ramon Airport, which will serve as the international gateway to Southern Israel and the Red Sea, is set to open in early 2018.

Located 18 kilometres north of Eilat, Ramon Airport replaces two existing airports, Eilat City Airport and Ovda Airport.

The new airport will be capable of processing two million passengers a year upon opening with

ambitious expansion plans in place to increase the capacity to more than four million a year by 2030.

A rail link is also planned but for the time being there will be shuttles from Ramon Airport to Eilat for the 10-minute journey to the city.

Operating airlines include Ryanair, Monarch, WizzAir, Transavia, SAS, Finnair, and Ural Airlines.  It is expecting to attract more European charter airlines to the airport during the winter season.

Facilities at the airport include a duty free store, foreign exchange, information, and transportation services.
