Catalonia To Capitalise On Cultural Legacy

Catalonia To Capitalise On Cultural Legacy

The Catalan Tourist Board will be at WTM London to promote its Year of Cultural Tourism 2019.

The organisation will update the trade about new cultural tourism products including six cultural routes in Catalonia.

The routes will explore the region’s art and gastronomy; medieval and Roman heritage sites from the Pyrenees to the Mediterranean coastlines; and the local customs of the Catalans.

The routes will be featured in an award-winning film called ‘Route of Fate’.

Singer Steve Smith, who stars in the film, will give a live musical performance on the Catalonia stand on Tuesday 6 November at 5pm as part of the WTM Festivals.

The Catalan Tourist Board will also reveal news about its tourism marketing strategy from 2018 to 2022.

This strategy aims to disperse tourists more widely around the region; increase visitor spending; and encourage more visits in the low season.

Furthermore, the tourist board will talk about plans to work with the UK travel trade to develop programmes across the region beyond the coastal areas.

Other news will include the launch of flights to support the regional spread of tourism, and updates about gastronomy and wine tourism; adventure; outdoor activities and nature; family holidays; and city breaks.
