Activities specialist Klook plots global expansion

Activities website Klook will be at WTM London as it embarks on ambitious expansion plans across Asia-Pacific and Europe.

Established five years ago, the Hong Kong-based online platform aims to increase its workforce from 1,200 to more than 2,500 in 30-plus offices by the end of 2020.

It is on target to make 60 million bookings in 2019 and attracts more than 30 million visitors to its website each month.

Klook’s website features 100,000 activities and services in more than 350 destinations through direct partnerships with local operators.

Its offerings include attraction tickets, tours, local transport, food and experiences.

Ethan Lin, Klook’s Chief Executive and Co-Founder, said: “When we started the business five years ago, we faced a major roadblock due to the fragmentation of in-destination travel services.

“We’ve not only overcome the challenge but also transformed the sector in the process through innovative digital solutions, collaboration with local tourism authorities, championing talents who share our vision, and empowering operators for a healthier and more diverse local tourism ecosystem.”

In the Asia-Pacific region, Klook offers services in nine languages and supports 41 currencies.

Meanwhile in Europe, it will launch services in French, Italian, Spanish, Russian, and German during the coming months.
