2023: THE BAHAMAS CELEBRATE 50 YEARS OF INDEPENDENCE

The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, Investment and Aviation is delighted to be attending World Travel Market. At Stand CA150, the team will be on hand to discuss everything that’s going on across the islands, including 2023 seeing The Bahamas celebrate 50 years of Independence.

In 2023, The Bahamas will celebrate 50 years of Independence. Bahamian Independence Day is celebrated on 10 July but throughout 2023 the islands will be celebrating the anniversary of Independence.Celebrations are planned across the islands with activities recognising the history, heritage and culture of The Bahamas. There won’t be a more exciting time to visit. 

 Transport Updates 

Increased Airlift to Nassau – This winter, British Airways will operate six flights per week and Virgin Atlantic Airlines will operate four flights per week from London Heathrow to Nassau, making it easy to plan a trip to The Bahamas.  

New Cruise Port in Grand Bahama  – In partnership with Carnival Cruises, The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, Investment & Aviation is developing a new cruise port on the south side of Grand Bahama Island. Operated by Carnival Cruises, the 369-acre port will feature a shore excursion dock, dedicated ground transportation hub, Bahamian-operated shops, and nature reserve, enticing cruise-goers to enjoy the shoreside hospitality. Expected opening, November 2024.  

The Hurricane Hole Superyacht Marina Reopens  – After a complete reconstruction, Hurricane Hole Superyacht Marina on Paradise Island has officially reopened with an entirely new look and features over 6,000 feet of slips, concrete floating docks and a 240-foot turning basin able to accommodate the most luxurious superyachts.  

  

New Cruise Port in Nassau – Set to open in 2023, Nassau’s new cruise terminal will be home to a vast culture and entertainment centre, with shoreside activities, cultural experiences and world-class performances in a new state-of-the-art facility.
