As the global travel industry gathers in London for World Travel Market (WTM) London, Egypt celebrates a landmark cultural event: the public opening of the long-awaited Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) in Giza on 1 November 2025.

EGYPTAIR Captain Ahmed Adel
With EGTYPTAIR the official airline for this historic opening, the national flag carrier is highlighting major developments which reaffirm its pivotal role in supporting Egypt’s broader vision to become a leading aviation hub. This transformation is aligned with Egypt’s Vision 2030 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals, aiming to position aviation as a key driver of economic growth and tourism.
“Through a combination of strategic network expansion, fleet renewal, and trade partnerships, we will develop and grow our fleet,” said Captain Ahmed Adel, Chairman and CEO of EGYPTAIR. “Egypt’s unique geographic position—connecting Africa, the Middle East, and Europe—makes it a natural gateway for global travel.”
Between July 2024 and June 2025, EGYPTAIR operated more than 40,000 flights to over 80 destinations, serving 11 million passengers worldwide.
Following a UK trade mission earlier this year—hosted by the British Embassy in Cairo, the Egyptian-British Chamber of Commerce, and BEBA—discussions are underway to attract UK private investment into Egypt’s aviation infrastructure. These efforts support the continued modernisation of EGYPTAIR and upgrades to Egypt’s airport facilities, in line with global standards.
Fleet Expansion and Upgrade
At the heart of the airline’s growth strategy is a comprehensive fleet modernisation programme, to blend Egypt’s rich heritage with modern onboard innovation with the first new aircraft entering service in December 2025.
EGYPTAIR is introducing 16 Airbus A350-900s and 18 Boeing 737MAX8s within the next three years, as well as the Boeing Dreamliner B787-9, B777-300ER, B737-800, Airbus A330-300, A321 and A320Neos to enhance fuel efficiency and expand long-haul capabilities to key cities such as London, Toronto, Los Angeles, Narita, and Shanghai.
As the only Star Alliance member airline in the MENA region, EGYPTAIR is optimizing connection times and transit facilities to make Cairo a seamless transfer point for travelers heading north, south, east, or west. This is in addition to the increased frequencies to strategic African capitals, Gulf cities, and European metropolises.
