Tuscany promises a vibrant 2026, offering diverse experiences throughout every season. Spring brings the enchanting Nature Train to Tuscany, a historic steam train journey through Crete Senesi, Val d’Orca, and Monte Amiata offering a scenic ride paired with local fairs, festivals, exhibitions, and markets.

For those visiting Florence in May and June, the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino is a must-see. Italy’s oldest music festival, featuring two months of world-class opera, concerts, and ballet. Summer is ideal for outdoor music.

The Puccini Festival, dedicated to the great Giacomo Puccini, takes place in a stunning open-air theatre on the Massaciuccoli lakefront in Torre del Lago from late July to late August. Meanwhile, the Lucca Summer Festival, held in Piazza Napoleone every July, attracts international artists, making it a highlight of the Tuscan summer.

Autumn celebrates wine with Impruneta’s famous Festa dell’Uva, a lively grape festival featuring music, ballet, and spectacular floats whilst the Expo del Chianti Classico in Greve in Chianti offers a rich program of artistic and cultural events.

As Christmas approaches, Tuscan towns light up with festive markets. Florence hosts the traditional German Weihnachtsmarkt, while Siena’s Mercato del Campo in Piazza del Campo, on the first weekend of December, boasts over 100 stalls selling local foods and crafts.

In addition to the incredible seasonal experiences, throughout 2026, Florence’s Palazzo Strozzi will host a major exhibition on Mark Rothko from March 14 to July 26. This unique retrospective explores Rothko’s profound connection with the city of Florence, unfolding across multiple venues: from the Renaissance halls of Palazzo Strozzi, to the Museum of San Marco in dialogue with the frescoes of Beato Angelico, and the vestibule of the Biblioteca Medicea Laurenziana designed by Michelangelo.
