Gambia hopes tourists will flock to bird festival

The Gambia Tourism Board will be promoting the first Gambia International Bird Festival while at World Travel Market London 2015.

Organised with the Department of Parks and Wildlife Management, the festival will be in October 2016, and aims to promote rural tourism and the conservation of birds.

The five-day festival will be hosted in Tendaba Camp, close to prime birding locations, and will feature a wide variety of birding activities, lectures and workshops.  The tourist board will also be encouraging tourism beyond the country’s beaches, including cruises along the River Gambia, visits to its seven national parks and homestay holidays.
