Next year will be the Year of Sports Tourism in Catalonia, showcasing Spanish region’s famous teams and activities.

The Catalan Tourist Board will promote the busy 2020 calendar of world-class sports events, including the football fixtures at Camp Nou – the home of FC Barcelona – and the La Volta cycling race, which celebrates its 100-year anniversary in 2020.

The destination will also highlight its diverse range of sporting activities, such as canoeing, open water swimming, motorsports, cycling, running and mountain biking.

Representatives from the Catalan Tourist Board will talk to WTM London delegates about the region’s tourism marketing strategy, which aims to encourage tourist to explore further, spend more and visit in low season.

The tourist board will also talk about plans to work with the UK travel trade to develop programmes across the region beyond the coastal areas.
