Wide Variety of Exciting, New Hotels to show in the Dominican Republic

Two Orlando companies will partner to build a series of attractions that will eventually form the first theme park in the Dominican Republic. Katmandu Group and Falcon’s Creative Group will build a new entertainment venue in Punta Cana, which will feature the debut of Falcon’s Suspended Theatre.

A platform physically moves a group of riders through a narrative, simulating a flight through a fantasy realm. Falcon’s Creative Group has some history building immersive experiences for theme parks as the company helped design the Kennedy Space Centre’s Heroes and Legends exhibit and helped build a huge National Geographic installation in New York’s Times Square.

Katmandu, Punta Cana, as the park is currently known, is set to open late next year and will include a 36-hole golf course designed by Katmandu and enhanced by Falcon’s creative team.

Adding to the island’s development is the presence of Hilton Hotels, who are adding a new Dominican Republic resort to its growing portfolio of all-inclusive properties in the wider Caribbean region.

The dual-resort Hilton La Romana will be opening its new family-friendly section on December 1, according to Playa Hotels and Resorts, which manages the property. La Romana already opened its adults-only resort last month in a setting on the beach in Bayahibe.

Playa Hotels and Resorts will also open a pair of high-profile all-inclusive Hyatt-branded resorts in the country this November.

Playa, which has a regional portfolio of 21 resorts, will be debuting two new hotels in the Cap Cana enclave of Punta Cana on Nov. 1: the Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana, an adults-only resort and the Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana, a family-friendly resort. Both resorts will feature 375 suites, with views of either the ocean or the “resort village”.

Set on the shores of the Chavon River, the brand new Marina Riverside Centre, from Casa de Campo offers an open-air tent structure (allowing for indoor and outdoor space), surrounded by sweeping river-edge views of both the Caribbean Sea and the nearby luxury marina.

The Marina Riverside centre features advanced technology and capacity for up to 1,360 guests. It can host large meetings, trade shows, award ceremonies, product launches, training, team-building activities, concerts, parties, weddings and more.

Finally, the first Club Med Exclusive Collection resort in the Americas will open in November, at Playa Esmerelda. It boasts a hands-on family community garden, called Little Gardeners’ House, where parents and children will be able to learn about planting, recycling and composting, and then put the theory to practice.

The garden will provide a fun, immersive experience for all ages while offering an educational and sustainability-minded activity for children.

With all these hotel developments in the Dominican Republic it is certainly an exciting time to be on this sun-drenched Caribbean island.
