Nicole Smart, Project Manager
After an impressive 15 years as part of the WTM family, Nicole Smart has amassed a treasure trove of memories, insights, and inspiration. Reflecting on her favourite WTM moments, Nicole shared, “It’s hard to choose just one moment, but meeting our incredible keynote speakers over the years has certainly been a highlight. From the sharp economic insights of Lord Digby Jones, the fascinating storytelling of Louis Theroux, to the glamorous presence of the late Hilary Devey CBE and the dynamic energy of Steven Bartlett—each has brought something truly unique to WTM. Their stories and contributions have inspired thousands and left a lasting impact on myself, the event, and hopefully the wider industry.
Nicole’s reflections aren’t all serious, though. She laughed as she recalled a light-hearted moment that stood out, “Not a keynote, but a pretty funny guest was reality TV star, Joey Essex, who came along with Las Vegas.” Her mix of reverence and humour aptly captures the spirit of WTM London, an event that pairs industry-shaping inspiration with moments of light-hearted fun.
Lisa Hopgood, Account Manager
Having spent over thirteen years as part of the WTM team, Lisa’s proudest memories are rooted in collaboration and the palpable results of hard work. She reflected, “There are too many to mention, but working with Mexico some years ago as a premier partner and seeing the partnership come to life onsite after a lot of hard work was very special.”
Lisa’s story highlights a key aspect of the WTM experience: the partnerships and collaborations that make each year extraordinary. Through her efforts, Lisa has seen how months of preparation transform into vibrant, impactful moments that resonate with attendees.

Jonathan Hull, Portfolio Head of Sales
Reflecting on his journey with WTM, Jonathan shared, “I first visited WTM when working in the travel industry many years ago and was blown away. To be working on my 10th year on such an amazing event is a real privilege, and I’m immensely proud of what the WTM team keeps on delivering for the industry.”

Brooke Gilbertson, Conference Manager
Brooke’s experience showcases the sense of pride that comes with seeing months of effort pay off. Looking back, she recalled, “In my second year of working at WTM we had completely changed the conference programme and stages, giving them an elevated feel. On build day, I walked into the then called ‘Elevate’ stage whilst they were setting up for the ministers summit and I was overwhelmed with how it all looked. It was a moment when I had real pride for the work we had been doing all year and gave me a real sense of achievement. Seeing it packed the next day, completely buzzing with excitement and insights really made the hard work worthwhile, and I can really remember that feeling of pride.”
Moments like these are reminders of the dedication driving WTM and the incredible results that come from teamwork and determination.

Jonathan Heastie, Portfolio Director
Jonathan joined WTM’s core onsite team in 2024. Though relatively new to the team, he brings a contagious energy and passion for making WTM bigger and better every year. He reflected, “I’ve seen several WTMs from afar over the past decade or so, but being part of the core team onsite at the 2024 show after my move to travel last year was extra special. That said, the planning since then for the 2025 edition – and all the new and exciting things we are introducing – is even more enjoyable! 😊”
