Healthcare workers have spent the past few months looking after COVID-19 patients, and now a carefully selected group of 100 heroes will be rewarded for their efforts. Direct Travel, Inc. announced the winners of their Flights for Heroes initiative this week. Each of the 100 healthcare heroes will be given a roundtrip airfare ticket which they can use for a much needed break or to visit relatives.
The full list of winners and their stories will be shared later on this week. The 100 winners were chosen from a pool of heartfelt submissions and span ER doctors, paramedics and ICU nurses across the US and Canada.
John Coffman, Chief Financial Officer at Direct Travel, said: “We couldn’t be more proud of the quality of the nominations we received through this program.
“There was a clear pattern of tireless dedication from these individuals, not only the 100 winners selected, but all the nominees on the forefront of the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Highlights from the submissions include a patient care manager who has taken an active role in supporting impacted retirement and care facilities in Ontario and an ICU nurse in Pennsylvania who has been working 12 hour shifts to care for recovering COVID-19 patients.
