#WTMLDN Day 1 – The Highlights!

At 10am today WTM London 2018 got underway. Travel professionals from around the world filled the halls of ExCel London, all here to find #NewIdeas, #NewBusiness and #NewInspirations to fuel their travel businesses.

#NewInspiration in reducing plastic pollution….
First-up today was a look at the hot topic of plastic pollution and what both travellers and the travel industry can do to help. This morning we chatted to #IdeasArriveHere competition winner Water-to-Go to hear more about their amazing product that helps travellers reduce their use of single use plastic water bottles.

WTM London 2018 for #NewIdeas…
The UK is open for business and WTM London is the place for #NewIdeas. That was the message from UK Minister for Arts, Heritage and Tourism, Michael Ellis MP who popped in earlier today.

We chatted to Michael to find out exactly why he was here.

It’s all about stories…
Social media was on this afternoon’s agenda when Instagram and Facebook’s Head of Travel, Neasa Bannon, took to the stage. Neasa provided in-depth insight into how Instagram’s audience are passionate, open to discovery and are set to utilise Instagram Stories even more in 2019 as the trend in experiential travel continues to grow.

Exhibitors on show…
The halls of WTM London 2018 are packed with exhibitors representing countries and regions from the across the globe, presenting a comprehensive range of products and destinations.

Earlier today we stopped by the Big Bus Tours stand (TA220) to learn more about their #NewCities & #NewProducts.

Here is what Executive Vice President for Global Growth, Omid Golshan had to say:

I attended Wtm (Work Travel Market), which I found amusing and more than I expected. I’m new to the business and would love to experience more. My objective for 2019 is to attract more inbound tourist attraction. I was surprised to find out there much more to London in terms of tourism in London even though I’ve lived here for years. Well done WTM TEAM!
