#WTMLDN Day 3 – The best bits!

#WTMLDN Day 3 – The best bits!

It may have been the final day of WTM London 2017 but that didn’t mean things slowed down at all, the event was once again packed with business opportunities and quality content.

Tomorrow’s travel leaders…
Day three started with a look to the future, when TTG media’s Pippa Jack and Daniel Pearce welcomed a stella line up of the industry’s young guns as well as some seasoned pros to the Platinum Suite stage.

The agenda covered everything from attitudes to a career in travel, from those already in it, to a look at TTG’s 30 Under 30 for 2018.

Following, we caught up with Jeannette Linfoot of Saga’s tour operating division to hear her thoughts on the session.

The rise of the Chinese independent traveller…
The Chinese independent travel market is growing fast but many destinations are struggling to capitalise effectively due to a variety of barriers including cultural, regulatory and geographic.

That was the message from Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Georg Arlt, Director of COTRI (China Outbound Tourism Research Institute) and Roy Graff, Managing Director EMEA, Dragon Trail during their session in South Gallery 7 & 8 earlier today.

We chatted to Wolfgang straight from the stage for a summary of the key points.

Two billion and counting…
Facebook was in the spotlight over on the WTM Global Stage this afternoon, when their Sales Director for Northern Europe, Vanessa FitzGerald, took to the stage. Vanessa’s session provided an insightful look at how the company is helping travel and tourism businesses target customers and also how Facebook is facing up to its very public problems.

We spoke to Vanessa following the session to find out more.

The best of the rest…
Here is a look back at some of the action from our Official Premier Partner Italy over the last few days. Their stand along with the whole exhibition floor has been buzzing all week long.

A big thank you to all our attendees…

That is it; WTM London 2017 has come to a close. Thanks to everyone who attended, we look forward to seeing you again in 2018.

Throughout the week we asked a few of our attendees what they thought of the event. Here is what they had to say.

An excellent event, as usual. It will be good to have full DLR access again in 2018. As a veteran of many years (my first WTM was at Olympia, on the “pubic access” Saturday) it is one of the highlights of autumn. Sad to see the demise of the Meridian Club, but I suppose all good things have to end eventually.
