What’s new in Costa Rica

Visitors to the Costa Rica stand can find out about latest developments, including more flights, a new campaign and expanded accommodation options.

Flight-wise, KLM launches a new service from Amsterdam to San Jose just before the start of WTM London. Beginning in October, the service operates twice a week.

Meanwhile, Lufhansa will launch a new direct, twice-weekly service in March 2018.

Visitors can also find out about Costa Rica Tourism Board (ICT)’s new campaign in five key markets.

The campaign launched in July 2017, when ICT established a partnership with the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and CNN International.

The name of the campaign is Essential Costa Rica.  My Choice, Naturally.

It’s the first time Costa Rica has produced an advertising campaign of this scale and the initiative was launched across social media, digital and television platforms in the UK, France, Mexico, Canada and the US.

Told through the eyes of a ‘social explorer’, it consists of 10 campaign videos that take viewers on a personal journey to discover more about Costa Rica’s lifestyle and why it claims to be one of the happiest places on earth.

WTM London visitors can also find out about a host of accommodation openings, including a new luxury tented resort in the foothills of Arenal Volcano opening at the end of 2017.

Called Nayara Tented Resort, it is a sister property to Nayara Hotel, Spa & Gardens and Nayara Springs.
In other accommodation news, modern eco-lodge provider Kura Design Villas has unveiled its new Master Suites. Meanwhile, Lagarta Lodge, which opened in January 2017, is situated overlooking the mouth of the Nosara River, and area known for incredible beaches, great surfing and the Ostional Wildlife Refuge – a nesting site visited by thousands of sea turtles each year.

Chocoholics can find out about a new chocolate tasting tour, while those interested in wellness tourism can learn more about ICT’s launch of a new tourism strategy, called Wellness Pura Vida.
Minister of Tourism Mauricio Ventura said: “With Wellness Pura Vida, we seek to position the country as one of the world’s leading wellbeing destinations, offering unique and transformative experiences, which improve the quality of life of our inhabitants and those who visit us.”
