The cruise industry may have been heavily impacted by COVID-19, but ROL cruise have used their time to raise money for the NHS. In total they have raised £100,000 since April, and the funds will be donated to NHS charities to help them provide crucial care to coronavirus victims.
The donations were collected from bookings made for future travels. Since April, £25 has been donated from every booking made with ROL cruise. NHS charities will use the funds to support the longer-term mental health and rehabilitation of staff and help NHS patients to leave hospital quickly and safely.
There have been many efforts to raise funds for NHS charities over the past few months, and the cruise industry isn’t the only travel sector to help. Hundreds of UK hotels have also offered free stays for NHS workers who have worked tirelessly to save lives. These stays will allow health workers to take a well-deserved break once the pandemic has come to an end, and the hotels taking part include: The Standard, London, The Landmark, London, Leonardo Hotels and Jury’s Hotels.
The hashtag #HotelsThankTheNHS has been used to publicise the offer, and with more than 100 hotels on board this will provide some well-deserved recovery time for health workers.
